Web poker has become globally celebrated as of late, with televised events and celebrity poker game shows. The games universal appeal, though, stretches back quite a bit further than its television ratings. Over the years several variants on the earliest poker game have been created, including a handful of games that are not quite poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of these games. Regardless of the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely affiliated with chemin de fer than long-standing poker, in that the gamblers wager against the house rather than each other. The succeeding hands, are the established poker hands. There is little concealment or different kinds of boondoggle. In Caribbean stud poker, you are expected to pay up before the croupier announcing "No further wagers." At that moment, both you and the casino and of course every one of the other players receive 5 cards. After you have looked at your hand and the casino’s initial card, you have to in turn make a call bet or accede. The call wager’s value is akin to your beginning ante, which means that the stakes will have increased two fold. Abandoning means that your ante goes instantly to the bank. After the wager comes the showdown. If the dealer doesn’t have ace/king or greater, your wager is returned, with an amount on par with the initial bet. If the bank does have ace/king or better, you succeed if your hand beats the casino’s hand. The dealer pays cash equal to your original bet and controlled odds on your call wager. These odds are:

  • Equal for a pair or high card
  • two to one for two pairs
  • 3-1 for 3 of a kind
  • 4-1 for a straight
  • 5-1 for a flush
  • 7-1 for a full house
  • twenty to one for a four of a kind
  • 50-1 for a straight flush
  • one hundred to one for a royal flush
