Poker has become world acclaimed recently, with televised competitions and celebrity poker game shows. The games universal appeal, though, stretches back in fact a bit further than its television scores. Over the years several types on the first poker game have been created, including a handful of games that are not quite poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of these particular games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is most closely related to vingt-et-un than old guard poker, in that the gamblers bet against the house instead of the other players. The winning hands, are the established poker hands. There is little conniving or different types of concealment. In Caribbean stud poker, you are expected to ante up prior to the croupier broadcasting "No further wagers." At that moment, both you and the casino and of course all of the other players receive 5 cards each. After you have seen your hand and the bank’s initial card, you have to in turn make a call wager or surrender. The call wager’s amount is equal to your beginning ante, meaning that the risks will have increased two fold. Giving Up means that your wager goes directly to the dealer. After the bet comes the face off. If the bank doesn’t have ace/king or greater, your wager is returned, plus a sum in accordance with the ante. If the house does have ace/king or greater, you win if your hand beats the bank’s hand. The dealer pays out money even with your ante and controlled odds on your call bet. These odds are:

  • Equal for a pair or high card
  • 2-1 for two pairs
  • 3-1 for three of a kind
  • 4-1 for a straight
  • five to one for a flush
  • seven to one for a full house
  • twenty to one for a four of a kind
  • fifty to one for a straight flush
  • one hundred to one for a royal flush
