Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by most of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover everything he could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the negative feedback from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker players on the planet.
Phil began playing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning opportunity and winning was not a normal outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and a continuing passion for poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every single day and is very humble about his success. He admits to making errors every single game of poker and constantly strives to improve.
Although Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
