Internet poker has become globally celebrated as of late, with televised competitions and celebrity poker game shows. The games popularity, though, stretches back in reality a bit further than its TV scores. Over the years many variants on the original poker game have been developed, including some games that are not in reality poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is 1 of these games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely resembling chemin de fer than traditional poker, in that the players wager against the casino rather than each other. The winning hands, are the long-standing poker hands. There is no conniving or different kinds of concealment. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to pay up before the dealer declares "No further wagers." At that point, both you and the bank and of course all of the other gamblers receive five cards each. Once you have observed your hand and the dealer’s first card, you must in turn make a call wager or surrender. The call wager’s value is akin to your beginning bet, meaning that the stakes will have doubled. Giving Up means that your wager goes instantaneously to the dealer. After the bet is the face off. If the house does not have ace/king or greater, your wager is given back, including a sum equal to the ante. If the house does have ace/king or better, you win if your hand beats the casino’s hand. The house pony’s up chips equal to your ante and fixed expectations on your call wager. These expectations are:

  • Equal for a pair or high card
  • 2-1 for two pairs
  • 3-1 for three of a kind
  • four to one for a straight
  • five to one for a flush
  • seven to one for a full house
  • 20-1 for a four of a kind
  • 50-1 for a straight flush
  • 100-1 for a royal flush
