Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only one to make it to the closing game in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. He won a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest gamblers in the world. While gambling on internet poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. He often competes in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen generally buys in for the minimum of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He waits patiently for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I believe Hansen is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is broke, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the table with the minimum buy in.

Buying in for the min takes almost all of the expertise out of big stack poker. Gus is supposed to be 1 of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total dollar value. I think tv can skew our perception of the real world sometimes. The greatest players anywhere in the world could be guys you have won’t have heard of before. Gus can be seen gambling on online poker on Full Tilt. He normally plays in high stakes Omaha and hold’em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his abilities in money games?
