Stu is regarded by many to the greatest No Limit Texas hold em Poker gambler ever.

The 3 time World Poker Champion was born in New York in 1953 and started wagering poker before reaching his teens.

The young bettor started out playing gin and at the age of ten had won his very first gin tournament, while on holiday with his mother and father. By the age of 14 the little poker genius had become a professional and stopped going to school.

In 1954 Stu entered the history books by succeeding ten thousand dollars in a gin tournament without sacrificing a single hand, a record which still remains in New York today.

The fast talking superstar has been likened, in poker terms, to athletic superstars like Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods. Stu Ungar had a genuine ability for betting poker but despite his achievements in Texas hold em poker, he favored wagering gin.

Stu once said that there may a few day be a better No Limit Texas holdem player than him but he couldn’t see how anyone could ever be a improved gin player.

In 1980 Stu Ungar was put on the global map as one of the greatest Hold’em Poker players in the world when he was crowned World Poker Champ for the very first time. Extraordinarily it was the first time he had entered the tournament.

The following year he dismissed any suggestions that it had been luck, by successfully protecting his title. And in ‘97 Stu set the record by succeeding his third World poker championship.

Except this poker master also fought with drug abuse and a year after winning his third title Stu Ungar died in his hotel room. According to medical professionals, he had died from a heart attack which was triggered by his lifestyle.

Stu had started with absolutely nothing except his ability and talent for the casino game which made this poker wonderful a millionaire many times over.
